System freeze (amdgpu - flip_done timed out) after switch to kernel 6.12

The issue would appear to be finally fixed with kernels 6.18.44, 7.1.8 and 7.2-rc7. These kernels are provided with the latest release of Bian-May Stable Update 2026-08-12.

Since AMD is closing a lot of page_flip issues on their gitlab instance with the same note, I suggest putting this information into the discussion as well:

The most common cause for page flip timeouts has been fixed in kernel 6.18.44, 7.1.8, and 7.2-rc7.

Could you please test with one of these kernels and let us know if you’re still able to reproduce the problem?

If the issue still occurs, please open a new issue and include:

1. Full dmesg output from boot
2. uname -r output
3. The compositor and its version (e.g. KWin 6.3, sway 1.9, etc.).
4. The exact scenario and steps that lead to the timeout freeze
5. drm_info dump. Make sure this is captured using the same display config and layout that reproduced the timeout. Preferably in the same user session soon after the timeout freeze, over a remote connection.
