Stuck on this screen after update yesterday

After updating my system yesterday I cannot seem to get any further than a screen containing the following line

/dev/nvme0n1p2: clean, 750522/61030400 files, 59680534/244112696 blocks

I am running a system with an nvidia gtx 980 and I am using the proprietary nvidia driver (saw something appear about a conflicting nvidia package)

Hi newbi question my desktop is XFCE my pc is 64bit 60gig hardrive. I did a recent up date and now manjaro won’t boot up. I get a message saying I need to have a kernel installed first. Fixed it by using tty2 and reinstalling the nvidia driver. I have a desktop again so can continue.
