Controllers not working on steam

Hello people of the penguin community : D

I’m having an issue with my controllers :c

Few weeks ago, I was gaming on steam with my controllers flawlessly. I had a NVIDIA GPU and was using the non-free drivers.

I swapped my GPU for an AMD card and I had to fully reinstall manjaro KDE. Since then, I was never able to play with my controllers on steam again :c

I tried with a PS4 controllers and my nintendo switch pro controller (both of them works on big picture, but turn off when I launch a game on steam).

My pro controller is working great on Yuzu tho (a switch emulator).

Here is the inxi:

Please read this:

Especially the Linux has multiple kernels section, then try an LTS kernel and hopefully the problem will go away “automagically”.

Hey Fabby,

thanks for trying to help me ^^ !

I tried downgrading to a LTS… but when I select it in the grub menu, it gets stuck at

/dev/nvme0n1p2: clean, 1124500/29933568 files, 31345827/119711828 blocks

(I tried LInux 5.10.61-1 and LInux 5.4.143-1)

I also tried upgrading it to 5.14.0-0 and it was booting, but still the same controller problem.

I’m 90 % positive steam is the problem :c

I tried :
-Dying light (the controller is fully working)
-Hollow Knight (the controller is inputting non-stop random buttons)
-Yakuza 0 (the controller is not working at all)
-The Witcher 2 (the controller act like a keyboard and isn’t working outside the menu. Also open a random steam keyboard layout)

I also use steam beta in case it can cause a problem.

UPDATE ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO BOOT ON LOWER KERNEL

After some digging left and right, I concluded that my graphic card isn’t compatible with the latest “LTS” kernel. When I boot, it doesn’t find the /dev/dri/card0…

That might be the reason why popOS is also not booting when trying to boot it from a USB stick.

I have a rx6600XT sapphire for reference.

Bumping is against the rules

Do your part to keep the forums tidy. Posting in old threads, or “necrobumping” is generally discouraged in the technical issue subforums, since it can potentially create disjointed “zombie” information; outdated posts with data which is no longer relevant due to Manjaro’s rolling nature, combined with more recent posts reflecting more current circumstance. Furthermore, technical support threads should remain succinct, and multiple pages are to be avoided if possible.

Rules of thumb

  • If you have a question, start a new thread and link to the old if relevant.
  • If you have something to add and judge that your information is related, but more up-to-date, start a new thread and link to the old if desired, but avoid duplicating effort by posting information already contained in the Manjaro wiki.
  • If you have a version-agnostic or corresponding solution, necrobumping can be appropriate.

The only people reading this are the people who already responded (=me) and I can’t help you any further…

:sob:

Did you also reset Steam settings for your controllers?

Also: Gamepad - ArchWiki

ohh sorry ^^’ I really want to play yakuza 0 (was in the middle of my playthrough when I had to switch the kernel)

In Steam Settings, look for Controller Configuration and see if enabling/disabling/configuring support for specific controller changes something.
