While copying files the system automatically sleeps.
I want the system to sleep just not when copying files.
Is there a way around this?

On GNOME anyway there’s always Caffeine, but you appear to be using KDE, so maybe give this a go? – Caffeine Plus - KDE Store.
I don’t use KDE, so if that doesn’t work, just look around for similar extensions or wait for someone with more experience in KDE to show up.
Or just disable sleep 
probably don’t want that though…

If you don’t want to use Caffeine, then there are another two alternatives. You either set Energy Settings like this:
Disabling the Suspend session, or you create a separate Activity and you set the Energy savings for it like that, and switch to it when copying files.

Thanks guys, the activity option does work, however it seems like there should be a better way.

Actually … on KDE … you dont need anything extra…
Just click on your power management (battery) icon and disable power management:
With that box unchecked, your computer will not sleep.
Its like ‘presentation mode’ … but just embedded without silly constraining adverbs.
