You should consider setting up a Btrfs partition with Timeshift enabled. You would be able to just boot a previous snapshot of your system from right before the update where everything still works. This is what I did. I’m able to play just fine right now while I wait for the issues of the update to be resolved.

Btrfs is advanced filesystem, he can archive the same goal with rolling back his ext4 partition/install with Timeshift also.
You can run into deep trouble if you use Btrfs and not know everything about it. Ext4 is more userfriendly.
People also reported, switching to Testing Branch was helping them…

That’s why I always keep a few GB of free space after the Btrfs partition of each drive. It’s then very easy to grow the partition if it gets full.

I can also confirm this. With adwaita-icon-theme-legacy-46.2-3 I can play Warhammer Darktide again. I’m using KDE, Wayland, AMD

Let’s have a little deep dive on why this icon theme may have broken things. More or less it was this change: Inherit from Adwaita (!3) · Merge requests · GNOME / Adwaita Legacy · GitLab
adwaita-icon-theme-legacy is a dependency adwaita-icon-theme which is a dependency of gtk3 and gtk4 - most likely is also installed on your system. Adding Inherits=Adwaita to a theme you may not use might create issues as in some implementations don’t support circular inheritance. This happened with steam . It looked for the Adwaita theme, which might not been active on your system. Before it only looked for hicolor. So steam kept crashing cos the legacy theme depended on adwaita which itself depends on the legacy theme. So a non working cycle was created.
Here an example for python code:
class A(B):
#body of class A
class B(A):
#body of class B
This code won’t work because B is not defined when class A got created. It proves the concept of circular inheritance. class A inherits from B and B from A… so you’re just creating a loop of inheritance, and python would not be able to evaluate this since there’s no way to look at any class individually.

wow… fixed me too… also, i noticed i had another mesa update and applied that.

That would probably explain why games would freeze at launch - they were busy looping some icon logic that weren’t even really part of the application itself, but handled by the OS in some manner?
What I don’t get is why it completely broke Steam for some while for others (like me), Steam itself worked fine.
