I just received an AMD 6800 RX card. I know these cards are having problems with Linux at the moment. However my card won’t display anything, not a black screen, its more like static.
I guess my question is how do I get the card to display or at least software render so I can run updates (Kernel 5.10 and other graphics related items) so that I hopefully can at least boot to my desktop. I’m ok with not having full support at the moment but eventually will be gaming with Steam Proton like I was before with my Nvidia card.
Well the issue is I am suppose to use kernel 5.10 which includes support for the AMD 6800 RX. The card is just too new. I got it working under Ubuntu 21.04 to play games in Steam. But I still am unable to see anything on the screen when booting in Manjaro. I guess I’ll wait until my card is supported out of box.
I tried to use my old nvidia card, install manjaro and update kernel and updates and mesa-git but no go. I think mesa-git is messing things up. I see it removes anything to do with mesa amd/radeon.
If you’re sure it’s DP-3 (mine is DP-0 / DP-1 / DP-2), try this as a kernel parameter and see if it does anything:
video=DP-3:1920x1080@60
I HAVE to use video=DP-0:2560x1440@60 video=DP-1:2560x1440@144 video=DP-2:2560x1440@60 or else I get a weird static screen on both Kernel 5.9 and 5.10 with my 5700 XT (or sometimes I get a kernel panic, if I have more than 1 monitors plugged in, which is a known issue)
