had troubles with updating cuz of NVIDIA, i have a card which requires 580xx version, mhwd was saying “580xx does not exist” before the update so i had to just IgnorePkg some of the packages and install the 580xx packages after the update, which i did and the update went well
[CLOSED: sorry, just found out there’s a linux-nvidia-580xx-meta package] But now ive only got one unapdated package - linux-nvidia-meta, which i cant update since it strongly requires nvidia-utils-595. What do i do with this package? [CLOSED]
You can safely remove linux-nvidia-meta. It is not a required package - its only purpose is to ensure that nvidia users are not running out-of-date drivers on their system.
one abnormal thing after the update is with Dolphin. Usually, when I press the right-mouse, it opens the menu without selecting anything, when choosing a menu item, the full directory is the target. Now the right-mouse selects the file/folder at the point. A behavior change in Dolphin?
I haven’t found a workaround yet. I just noticed another oddity: if a program running in the terminal is scrolling text, the lag decreases during that time. In other words, the lag is more pronounced when most of the text on the screen is static.
Configuration windows may disappear when focus switches to another window and the only way to get back to that window is via Alt-Tab or clicking the Konsole icon. This is very confusing because configuration in Konsole is done via popup windows and if the “top” popup window disappears, nothing works in other windows. Clicking buttons have no effect.
If I use Meta+left or Meta+right to snap a Konsole window, it becomes unmovable and unresizable until I maximize and de-maximize using the window buttons.
Update: something triggers this behaviour. After closing/opening Konsole a few times, I can no longer replicate.
After the update, I was stuck in a GDM loop: I would type the password, but it would not take me to the desktop, instead, it would simply start GDM again.
This is what I had in my log:

I managed to isolate the problem to something in .config. I moved the config folder to a backup folder, which enabled me to login.
Then I restored some of the config folders for apps I still use, and it’s working. I didn’t restore any “system” apps configs.
Not sure what the problem was. I’ll just reconfigure GNOME to my taste again.
Post-update, but not before.
Anyway, everything went fine, it just asked me to confirm that I wanted to replace libakonadi.
I’ve uninstalled libkcompactdisc since the dependency has been been removed in the new version.
It would be better if the package manager had removed it automatically since it was marked as installed by a dependency.
You are correct; the reason is to prevent lyrion-music-server from failing after perl update. But “internal” version updates won’t break it so this only flagged a possible problem. I’d forgotten I’d done this, so thanks.
did that, but the installation is still around 1GB bigger like machion said
i updated via terminal and it showed me “after the process it is going to be 900MB bigger”
The size usually only differs by a few MB after the update.
before: 472,2 GiB free space.
now: 471,2 GiB free space
i deleted the update files.
and in times where SSDs are kinda expensive it would be nice to know what causes this
Seems mostly good, but just one minor annoyance; I have a news-ticker widget which used to sit immediately above my bottom panel. This now won’t go any closer than about 8px above it. Presumably something to do with the new plasmashell version.
Though I’m probably the only person this will affect…
