It seems like Pipewire and PulseAudio are both ‘active’ now which (I’m guessing) might be causing the problem with video playback in the browser

Inxi shows that both PA and PW are running which is a normal situation for PA-machines with GNOME or KDE as those require PW for working with WebRTC and video.

when I use KDE NeworkManager to try to connect to WiFi a tab opens in the Brave browser with the URL https://ping.manjaro.org/check_network_status.txt, resulting in a 404 not found error.

Just disable it, it’s useless anyway. If it tells you that you have no internet you still have to check, as the server may be down.
