The repo version had the odd svn numbering so lots of users encountered the (false) ‘newer than’ without having the -git AUR package installed.
(ex: Nano-syntax-highlighting - #4 by cscs)
In such cases the double u (-Syuu - ‘allow downgrade’) will let the upgrade complete.
Of course if someone does have a third party package then they must manage that as necessary.
