Have you tried…
sudo pacman -Syu pacman-contrib
… as per the 2024.01.25 Testing Updates thread?
…?
Thanks, its upgrading now without the error. I made sure to make a timeshift restore point in case something goes wrong.
yay -Syu
there is nothing to do
not all mirrors have updated, understandable
I just had the same problem as Jim.B. After reading this thread, I followed Aragorn’s recommendation to open a terminal and run:
sudo pacman -Syu pacman-contrib
This solved the problem.
found this in pacman.log
[ALPM] warning: directory permissions differ on /var/log/audit/
filesystem: 700 package: 755
[ALPM] warning: directory permissions differ on /usr/share/polkit-1/rules.d/
filesystem: 750 package: 755
keep the filesystem value?
fixed…

could not satisfy dependencies:
- installing pacman (6.0.2-18) breaks dependency 'pacman-contrib' required by pacui
- if possible, remove pacui and retry
had to remove pacui
and bmenu
do new ISOs come with Pipewire as default?
also;
do i need to do something,or does Pamac takes care of the necessary?

Not sure about Pamac as I only use that for the AUR. However:
is the same as mine (prior to upgrade, waiting for my mirrors to sync). I guess this is the easiest way if not:
I got this error message when trying to upgrade - hmm, no idea why it complaines about some dependencies here - anyone any idea ?

Did ypo check if alsa in lib32 has same version?
Would you clarify for someone new to arch/manjaro/pacman? I stopped the download for update when I saw these postings. Should I use the pacman command listed above before I resume the download/update or is it something you do afterwards or when you get an error?
If installation hasn’t started i.e. just part-way through downloading, I’d abort it then re-run with the command. If it’s already started installing the updates let it run; if it errors-out then re-try with that command.
I got a conflict with this update:
looking for conflicting packages...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: installing pacman (6.0.2-18) breaks dependency 'pacman-contrib' required by supermin
As far as I know supermin
is a dependency for libvirt, so I decided to install pacman-contrib
.
Simply installing pacman-contrip
via sudo pacman -Syu pacman-contrip
fixed it.
Thanks for repeating the third time what’s in the OP.
Hello everyone,
after last update I get blank screen, what should I do?
Same here, just black screen
Using Cinnamon - for QT apps I used Kvantum. After the update all the QT apps were the default white theme vs the one I had found to match my Gnome look. Read around and there might be some things needed with Kvantum packaging but for now I fixed that by installing qt5ct, adding QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct
to /etc/environment, rebooting, and choosing a theme in qt5ct.
Hopefully Kvantum will work again at some point. I’m not sure if this is related but looking at recent issues I saw : Bug #2054321 “Add Qt6 support for Kvantum” : Bugs : kvantum
I can not start the command paccache -rvk3
(to clean the pacman cache).
Is there any package, which I need to install to use the above command ?
sudo pacman -Fyx usr/bin/paccache
