So I’ve been having a really weird issue since this update. I’ve narrowed it down to - seemingly - anything that uses any kind of hardware acceleration: watching videos/livestreams, playing games, etc. After an unspecified amount of time, doing anything even remotely GPU-intensive will cause X to crash, forcing me to log in again (disabling hardware acceleration, on a per-program basis, does not resolve this). Also, before I removed PulseAudio to rule it out, trying to play video resulted in the video freezing, unless I killed PulseAudio, restarted it, and then messed around with amixer (on account of a custom script that I used, to store/restore specific volumes for my different channels, which I’ve currently disabled). Anyway, taking a cue from other posts, here’s my - antiquated - GPU specs:
Graphics:

Since extramodules is a symlink on our end, mkinitcpio 37.2 originally messed up nvidia drivers as the host was touched when users had chosen to uncompress modules for kms and faster booting. That was fixed in a more recent update of mkinitcpio.
Nvidia drivers should be removed, checked for uncompressed .ko files should get removed and after driver installed again
I haven’t updated one device yet but I am very unsure what to make of that last post, as in: Is my manual intervention required for the Nvidia driver or mkinitcpio?
As I understand, the issue only concerns kernel 6.7 ?
Correct.
Thebissue concerns ALL kernels as mkinitcpio checks and modifies all kernels. And if a user decided to have modules uncompressed it failed a s not the initramfs was uncompressed as it should but changes were made tonthe host or rootfs in that case. That isnthe beauty of symlinks.
So if mkinitcpio 37.2-1 got installed and you fall into the criteria you should check your system and fix as needed.
Latest packages should have fixed that problem. There is also a dedicated thread for it.
So I got lucky, upgrading (from 2023-01-02 update) directly to mkinitcpio 37.2-1.6
After the update and the switch to dbus-broker I was not able to get to a KDE desktop session. I still saw the sddm login screen, but after entering my password the screen went black (sometime - I had multiple attempts and reboots) I saw the mouse cursor on the black screen. I even could not switch to another tty, everything was just black and nothing happened.
With CTRL+C I was able to get back to the sddm login screen, but that was it.
With the help of a live USB stick, I was able to see the following error messages in the journal:

At first I thought the message dbus-broker-launch[1996]: ERROR launcher_run_child @ ../dbus-broker-35/src/launch/launcher.c +326: Permission denied
was caused by apparmor, but disabling apparmor did not make a difference.
In the end I was only able to solve this situation for me by re-installing dbus-daemon again.

Thanks a lot, i had the same problem and this solution worked.
I have another problem anyway: I noticed now that OBS Studio is not working after the last update. Here’s the output:

The new FireFox update (121.0.1-1 → 122.0-1) just switched my language setting inside of FireFox to English. While this is no big deal I wonder why? I have a relatively new install of Manjaro KDE (2 Weeks old or so) and I am on the Stable Branch using the default FF package. FireFox should not switch the language after an update, how can I help you fix this problem?
Note: I have “Deutsch” configured as my only language in KDE settings and as my first language in the Manjaro-Settingsmanager, but I guess I have the English language packs installed as well(probably by default).
I don’t think this is an upsteam bug, but I cant say for sure.
Do you have firefox-i18n-de
installed?
Yes and firefox-i18-en-us
and I also had both installed before the update.
This update broke Steam. Launchers of multiple kinds just hang indefinitely, locking up the entire KDE Desktop.
I just did a quick test of Steam and I can launch and play all the 3 games I have installed at the moment on my Cinnamon Desktop, so it seems there’s a problem on your side.
You might want to open a new thread in the support forum, with at least your system specs (“inxi -F” in a terminal) and a copy from the output of Steam (launched from a terminal too).
Mhwd and mhwd-db got 2 updates, one was 2 days ago or so one I got today.
Just wanted to mention that both pamac cli and pacman tell you about a conflict
warning: dependency cycle detected:
warning: mhwd-db will be installed before its mhwd dependency
warning: dependency cycle detected:
warning: mhwd-db will be installed before its mhwd dependency
warning: dependency cycle detected:
warning: mhwd-db will be installed before its mhwd dependency
before installation.
(And why do I get it thrice now?)
Anyway just wanted to tell you that I “solved” it by first updading mhwd
sudo pacman -S mhwd
before running
sudo pacman -Syu
again
Unsure if this is good practice but would not know why that’d cause any issue…
Think I also ran sudo pacman -S mhwd again after it was over to reinstall.
Nope. Steam works fine for me on KDE and if it was broken there would be a lot more posts about it. It’s something specific to your system.
Read again. That’s not a conflict. And it goes through without doing anything.
Maybe this will help look here.
TLDR: Downgrade pixman 0.43.0-1 back to 0.42.2-1, did the trick for me.
Thanks mate, that solved it.
