[Stable Update] 2021-12-16 - Kernels, KDE Gear 21.12.0, Gnome Extensions, LibreOffice

Found the problem. Before 4.23.2-1 the pacman_mirrors python library was stored in /usr/lib/python3.9/site-packages/, and for 4.23.2-1 it’s stored in /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/. So either it was pushed before a python 3.10 update that’s coming or it was packaged wrong since the stable branch is still on python 3.9 (as far as I can tell on my system).

Use only one of the following ways to temporarily fix the issue:

  • Downgrade to 4.23.1-5 (pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pacman-mirrors-4.23.1-5-any.pkg.tar.zst (assuming the default cache location for pacman and 4.23.1-5 is the previously installed version))
  • Create symbolic links in /usr/lib/python3.9/site-packages/ pointing to /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/pacman_mirrors/ and /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/pacman_mirrors-4.23.2-py3.10.egg-info/

I’m guessing the first method is the better option in this case?

Revert back to the previous version of pacman-mirrors:

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pacman-mirrors-4.23.1-5-any.pkg.tar.zst

It seems that the latest pacman-mirrors is based on python 3.10, while the python version on stable branch is still 3.9.

@dobedobedo

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/pacman-mirrors-4.23.1-5-any.pkg.tar.zst

That done it!

Thank you very much! :slight_smile:

No problem. ^^

hello, just FYI: on my stable(!! (NOT test)) manjaro-branch a single update package was shown “pacman-mirrors-4.23.2-1”. so i executed the update, but after that the pacman-mirror was broken with this error message:

$> sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/pacman-mirrors", line 20, in <module>
    from pacman_mirrors import pacman_mirrors
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pacman_mirrors'

Therefore i had to downgrade the pacman-mirror again!

Nevertheless, a happy new year and many thanks for this great linux-distro - the donation is on its way :smiley:.

Fixed with 4.23.2-1.1.

indeed, thanks!

Hi, I’m running Manjaro KDE on a Lenovo laptop. Normally when I pressed Fn + F2 I turned volume down, but now when I hold it instead of turning the volume down it restarts KDE Plasma and closes all the windows. How can I go back to the previous behavior?

Edit: If I just press it it works like before, turning volume down by 5%.

Do you get 3 core dumps? Firstly Xorg crashes, then kwin_x11 and then plasmashell before exiting to SDDM screen.

A post was split to a new topic: Multiple applications crashed and dumped core

The patch doesn’t seem to be working on my system.

Lock Screen used to turn off my monitor on 21.1.1 - it doesn’t on 21.1.2-2 (the screen goes blank but the monitor remains on)
Resume… i just get an un-blinking cursor on a blank screen.

I have a single 1080p monitor plugged into the HDMI on my GPU.

Unfortunately, I did a clean install recently & now I can’t downgrade to 21.1.1
I’m tempted to run makepkg -si on d3616ca9 - unless you tell me that’s a bad idea.

Edit: 21.1.1-3.1 has resolved the issues outlined above.
