[Stable Update] 2019-11-23 - Kernels, Mesa 19.2.6

Hello community,

I am happy to announce another Stable Update.

Might be just over the top, but Windows 10 ARM runs well on a Pinebook Pro with Manjaro as host

With this we have new Mesa drivers and latest Kernels. Grub should now auto-update with the new alpm-hook.

Some feature-updates:

  • Latest Kernel updates
  • Mesa is at 19.2.6

If you like following latest Plasma development you may also like to check out our current version of manjaro-kde-vanilla, which we build on a regular basis against kde-git master packages.

As always we appreciate your input and feedback for the updates.

Our current supported kernels:

  • linux316 3.16.76
  • linux44 4.4.202
  • linux49 4.9.202
  • linux414 4.14.155
  • linux419 4.19.85
  • linux53 5.3.12
  • linux54 5.4.0-rc7 (not all modules build yet!)
  • linux419-rt 4.19.72_rt26
  • linux52-rt 5.2.21_rt13

Replace linux52 with community/linux-latest ?

linux52 is EOL and has been removed from the repositories. It will be replaced by a metapackage which will from now on keep you on a maintained kernel.

If you want to keep the old kernel and modules then include them in your pacman.conf's IgnorePkg.

I have updated the system with pacman -Syyu and all went fine.
The second computer also updated correctly.

Updated in TTY no problem found.

Updated via Pamac and no issues whatsoever on XFCE, AMDGPU, Kernel 5.3.

XFCE, Kernel 414, I updated few minutes ago and all seems fine.
However, why we didn't received also these updates from 14 November 2019? [Unstable Update] 2019-11-14 - Python 3.8, ICU and Poppler rebuilds - BREAKAGE expected! and from today? [Testing Update] 2019-11-23 - Python 3.8, ICU and Poppler rebuilds - BREAKAGE expected! too many breakages? (I think that a lot of packages needs to be rebuilt, I think about python especially: on my system I have a lot of dependencies and sub-dependencies on python: i fear a mess about).
Well, on the stable branch, in facts, is ok to wait for major updates and fixes about, I'm ok with this

No problems on 2 KDE machines, thank you.

Edit: I resolved my issues. Update works fine; and in both kernels.

For me, the update got caught in an infinite loop and I had to shutdown. Upon reboot no kernel found (4.19 LTS and Nvidia 440xx). I had the 5.3 kernel installed, though it was unable to boot completely prior to update...(I think maybe a network issue--don't really know) anyway, I was able to open a TTY and roll back using Timeshift. Timeshift is awesome.

No problems on KDE machine.
Thank you.

Updated KDE system with no issue. Thank you team Manjaro.

One question: does anyone know if it is safe to remove the "AMD_DEBUG=nongg,nodma" when using my rx 5700 xt or should i still keep these until later kernel/mesa?

Is there anything that needs to be changed in a config file or elsewhere for alpm-hook to be active?

No user action is required.

This is worrying

You can ignore that message, see

I guess if they are updates from Unstable and Testing, then this is why we don't have them in Stable.

Manjaro team THANK YOU for including Dynamic Wallpaper Editor. I did not know it exist, now I am playing with it. Before I have to use some scripts to change wallpapers periodically!

The update caused no issues. Following the previous update, Nvivdia drivers version 435 are used to enable kernel 4.14 and 4.19 to boot. Can anyone confirm if with this update version 440 is compatible with 4.14 and 4.19.

Kind Regards.

I am running nVidia 440 with kernel 4.19 without any issues.

Update went fine. Updated via TTY on a Gnome install.
