Thanks for the info, you’re right I used firetray for it. So do I understand that there is currently no way to send thunderbird to the tray?

#44

You’ll need to research an alternative.

#46

You can switch off the ‘extensions.strictCompatibility’ and see if it works
e.g. see here

Also perhaps interesting for calender/lightning issues
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird

#47

You cannot as far as I know. Lightning is now builtin.

#49

Yes, but I don’t see it. There is no calendar.

You mentioned above the need to create an account. I do not understand what you meant by that.

Could you explain that, please?

Thanks.

#50

You can add a calendar account from hamburger menu. Don’t have Thunderbird under my eyes right here, but you’ll find something in Accounts menu.

#53

I can see that option on my system which still has the Lightning extension, but on the other system(from which I deleted the extension) there is no option to create a calendar. Very strange.

Thanks for your help.

DRI_PRIME=1 <application>

will switch the application to use your secound card. For steam, you need to write this into applications launch options:

DRI_PRIME=1 %command%

Do not start steam itself with dri_prime.

[Testing Update] 2018-08-15 - Linux 4.19, LibGLVND, Python, Haskell
Unable to run primusrun/optirun wine
#55

Installed the updates with Pamac and succeded despite having both glibc and lib32-glibc packages. I must be a black mage or something.

#56

With this update (switched from 4.14 to 4.18) my shutdown process is getting stucked for a minute or so. When i switch back to 4.14 everything works fine. Any idea how to fix that?
The shutdown and reboot messages:

linux418 has some issues. On my end it even takes longer. We have to see.

#58

I used to have this all the time with active LVM snapshot.

I modified ShutdownWatchdogSec=45 in /etc/systemd/system.conf but can’t recall if it actually helped. There is always Alt+SysReq+E…

568 packages (1704.23MB). Both impressive and disturbing :grin:

Some aur wise guys decided to add a specific perl version dep in hivex package. Furtunately pacman -Syu --assume-installed perl=5.26.0 works as other helpful people have noted.

#59

Two problems here:

  • Thunderbird’s notifications doesn’t works on my XFCE desktop

  • in VLC , when the libnotify plugin is enabled and I open a video, the application crashs:

[salome@salome ~]$ vlc '/run/media/salome/data/Video/videofile.mp4'

A week or so ago I created the following links to get spell-check to work in LibreOffice:

$ sudo ln -s /usr/share/hunspell/en_US-large.dic /usr/share/hunspell/en_US.dic
$ sudo ln -s /usr/share/hunspell/en_US-large.aff /usr/share/hunspell/en_US.aff

During the upgrade (used Octopi with Trizen), the following erros occurred:

Replace hunspell-en with extra/hunspell-en_AU? [Y/n]
:: Replace hunspell-en with extra/hunspell-en_CA? [Y/n]
:: Replace hunspell-en with extra/hunspell-en_GB? [Y/n]
:: Replace hunspell-en with extra/hunspell-en_US? [Y/n]

I selected “Y” in each case. Maybe I should have selected “n”.

(322/322) checking for file conflicts                [############################] 100%
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
hunspell-en_US: /usr/share/hunspell/en_US.aff exists in filesystem
hunspell-en_US: /usr/share/hunspell/en_US.dic exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I removed the spelling links and restarted the upgrade process and it went smoothly. I tried to reboot and could not. Had to do a forced power-off and restart. At this point grub no longer contained an entry for the Windows 7 system. Rebuilt grub and Windows 7 reappeared. Several test reboots later and all is well.

Manjaro Settings Manager prompted me to install several language modules which I did and then tested LibreOffice for spell checking. It works.

Problem:
TB Calender was not accessible/visible because old Lightning 5.4 add-on deactivated and blocking new built-in calender

Solution:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird
Section ‘Lightning disappears after a Thunderbird update’
Following 1.-4.
Though 5. ‘Uninstall’ was not possible (no button visible)
After 6. ‘Restart Thunderbird’ all is fine

Rest of the update (XFCE, 4.14) without problem.
Big thanks to the maintainers!!

I’m getting the following ‘replace?’ questions before the update stops with dependencies errors:

Updated with pacman. Got a black screen and a blinking cursor at the top left. Rebooted and everything seems fine.

Think this is it from the log:

Never do this. Accept replacing everything or you’ll get a broken update.
