Please search the forum for the proper way to handle pacnew files. Other people can’t answer this question for you.

pacnew files are only a new default template for a config file. Moving it over the old config file will overwrite current settings. Results could be trivial to disastrous, depending on the file and your system customizations.

Hello,
Several problems, all solved

  1. after pamac restart, no more line doubling, but thunar-archive-plugin problem
After removing the engrampa-thunar-plugin, restarting pamac and rebooting : all is ok

#42

Everything went fine. There were no problems. Thank you for your hard work @manjaro-team

#43

Did you report this when it was first an issue? If not, it’s probably a good idea to start a new thread at this point rather than gunk up this one.

#44

Hi @jonathon ,

Thanks for your reply, I reported it here:

Should I still open a new thread?

#45

KDE kernel 4.17.3-1 .

Pretty substantial update there. No problems encountered after rebooting.

Thanks for the great work!

#46

i3WM Community Edition kernel 4.17.3-1 on AMD A9-9400 APU

No apparent problem after updating system even though I didn’t install systemd-resolvconf.

Thanks for everyone’s greatwork!

#47

Somebody @ Arch had a versioning mishap :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
warning: dotnet-sdk: local (2.1.300-1) is newer than community (2.1.1+301-1)

P. S. the new KDE greeter theme creeps me out

#48

Which theme is that?

#49

I had same problem with pamac doubling lines
Got the dependency cycle warning on bashrc-manjaro
Also saw warning “… engrampa.tap already exists in filesystem”

Thank you for posting this - after I uninstalled engrampa-thunar-plugin the update ran correctly. :+1:

and

sudo mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf.bak
sudo ln -s /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

# to customize settings
sudo mkdir /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/
sudo cp /etc/systemd/resolved.conf /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/99-resolv.conf
sudo nano /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/99-resolv.conf

For example

# Cloudflare DNS
DNS=1.1.1.1

Then
sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved.service

#52

Had to remove the engrampa-thunar-plugin to continue with the update.
Thanks for the solution philm.
Best distro ever.

#53

No need to do that since networkmanager will overwrite that file anyways, if used. :joy:

#54

Somehow with this updated I ended up with zd1211-firmware from the AUR which appears to be some sort of wireless USB firmware. This is hardware I do not even have.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/zd1211-firmware/

I remove thed package without any ill effect - it appears to depend on nothing. I find this kind of strange, and a bit disconcerting.

Not sure how/why I ended up with a package from the AUR. Any ideas?

Already addressed in the first reply after the known issues: [Stable Update] 2018-07-01 - Kernels, KDE, LibreOffice, Browsers, Mesa, Systemd, Deepin

#56

Thanks. Sorry, I should have scrolled through previous posts better - Not a fan of manjaro’s forum UI.

#57

The second post in every announcement thread is a “Known Issues” post, and has been for the past several months.

VirtualBox doesn’t show the toolbar anymore.
vbox-notoolbar
You can get it back by right-clicking on the menu, but it will not be there the next time VirtualBox is launched.

No idea why it started to do that. It didn’t do that before today.

Annoying.

VirtualBox still is fully functional though, i.e. I can still run virtual machines without problem.
