[Stable Update] 2017-11-04 - Kernels, Gnome, Deepin, Mate, Mesa, Libreoffice

update
stable
#92

Afaik, TBD is used here because the announcement post doesn’t yet contain detailed information about the update, which will probably be added later (compare it with a previous update announcement and you will see the difference).

#93

Updated without issues Lenovo T530 / XFCE / linux49.

I’m using emerald for windows decoration, and it works fine.
Protobuf is upgraded to the last version.

#95

I created a new thread for the libinput issue. If you affected by it and willing to help to find a permanent solution, it would help the community in the end.

Manjaro i3 with kernel 4.14, AMD A8x Kaveri CPU, until now when using kernel 4.14 the (quite nice Adobe) “Brackets” programmer’s text editor had a tendency to disappear soon after startup. After this November 4, 2017 update this instability appears to have disappeared.

#99

updates so far had been going well.

Now, I got problems. The font smoothing on KDE manjaro is broken. In particular Okular PDFs have become extremely coarse. Windows title bars are affected, too. So a symbols on action buttons in menues such as the manjaro settings manager.

Other areas like font rendering in Inkscape or Firefox is fine. For example, opening the PDF in FF displays fonts rendered beautifully - unlilke Okular.

Any ideas what to do or what might be the reason/source for this? Can I revert back to the state before the update for example?

Thanks

After reboot, the rigth click does not work here too… and the menue as screenshot’ed above vanished.

Pulseaudio for 2 Soundcards (Intel NM10/ICH7 + [AMD/ATI] SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)) with driver snd_hda_intel was broken after the 4.11. update (they work only if plugging the 3,5" chinch in/out)

And also on my lenovo laptop, no sound. I cannot even do the rightclick on the loudspeaker icon.

I did the upgrade on my laptop with xfce.
Booted in 4.9, touchpad, keyboard, sound, video are fine.

Update from a fully functional live installation 17.02 KDE failed on a
Thinkpad T60 T5500 64bit, Intel Integrated Graphics 945GM (i915)

Same symptoms as reported before:
After the login into a user account the KDE systems freezes, with the little white circle stop turning below the Manjar logo. No Taskbar, no right mouse menu. No Alt+Space. The mouse arrow is returning after about a second, but nothing to click on.

tty2 (Ctrl-Alt-F2) is always working.

I have tried all libinput versions listed above … exact same problems.

dmesg:
[drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

Xorg.0.log:
could not load moduel "dbdev" and "vesa" (module does not exist, 0)

On shutdown:
watchdog did not stop.
Otherwise no errors, which I was able to find. Any hints where to look for more errors?

As stated before: Live Install 17.02 KDE is working on this T60. The update breaks the system.
Is there anyone who is running this Manjaro KDE update on a Thinkpad T60 with integrated Intel Graphics?

#105

The libinput issue is no keyboard, mouse, touchpad after xorg loads, this has nothing to do with the freeze issue… There are however other places in this thread and others with possible workarounds.

#106

BTW, a workaround like adding the kernel module to the initramfs is NOT a solution, and only further hinders finding the actual cause and/or solution.

#107

This happens when SDDM tries to start before video is totally initialized. By adding your video module to early userspace, you initialize video earlier and avoid the problem, but it doesn’t really fix the root issue. More about it here.

#108

@AJSlye
I have read not through the whole tread and could not find a refence to a freeze, nor a fix.

I have also tried mkinitcpio -P fix, no success
Under fresh installed 17.02 KDE I have created a new user account, and this new one is not working either.

Any further hint?

#109

Yes, I know. Hence my comment.

For me, the SystemSettings5 issue was fixed by the 29-OCT update.

Here’s my system:
