#21

no issues with update. everything went smooth. thank you!

#22

Hard lockup on rebooting wit kernel 4.13 today update

#23

Exactly the same mistakes were always at 4.10.x, 4.11.x, 4.12.x, 4.14.x.
4.4.х, 4.9.x - no errors.

#24

Manjaro KDE: After the update, I am unable to boot into kernel 4.13.4 (see error messages in the image below). Same for kernel 4.14 RC2. I can boot, however when I select the LTS kernel. Suggestions are welcome.

#25

same error in block/scheduler/BFQ_SD for linux 4.13 & 4.14 ?
maybe check smart wish SSD samsung

#26

I see: kernel BUG at block/bfq-sq-iosched.c:790! (kernels 4.13.4 & 4.14 RC2).

#27

How do I do that?

#28

@jsbach
use smartmontools
or gsmartcontrol

#29

Everything is fine on xfce
Thanks

#30

I have no problems booting the LTS kernel or kernel 4.12.14. They both work fine. I was having no problems booting kernels 4.13.X and 4.14 RCX prior to today’s update. smartctl indicates that there is no problem with my SSD; see below. Suggestions are welcome.

Same here with Kernel 4.13 and 4.14, however 4.9 LTS boots fine.
@jsbach I tried a few times to reboot with 4.14 and if you’re lucky it starts with a failed to load kernel modules message.

Also at least for me the default gnome shell theme is changed. Looks like it now uses Adapta. I can’t reset it to the stock Adwaita theme in the tweak tool.

no report SSD in inxi ?
what returns

may be check in journalctl

#34

Were you also unable to boot using kernels 4.13 and 4.14? Did the problem go away?

#35

The problem still remains. It’s a 70:30-chance that it starts the system with 4.13 and 4.14. Most boots with this kernels just fail with similar errors like yours.

#36

@pux could you return inxi-Fxxx

@jsbach : SSD Liteon _CV1 is AHCI mode in Bios ?

#37

Using the kernel parameter elevator=deadline I was able to boot using kernel 4.14. I believe there is something problematic with BFQ.

@philm Would you have further suggestions on this issue?

This is what I have in Bios. Using elevator=deadline I am able to boot using kernels 4.13 and 4.14.

only one thing in common
yours SSD come with chipset from Samsung , bug report for kernels
