[Stable Update] 2016-12-15 - Linux v4.9.0, Haskell, Steam, X-Apps, Flash

#21

The new flashplugin-24 does not seem to work with hal-flash 0.3.3-1 - problem: logging in to web sites offering protected content affiliated with my cable provider is no longer successful.

Had to downgrade flashplugin back to 11.2 in order to access content until this is fixed.

#22

Smooth update tho my Octopi-Notifier still appears to not work unless I open Octopi then sync.
Then the notifier shows updates in the tray. Don’t know if it’s a unique issue for me or a known issue with others.

#23

Unable to install kernel 4.9.0 through Manjaro Settings Manager; it just says ‘Done’ without actually doing anything, and leaves a pacman lock each time I try. Can I get this manually? Do I just install: linux49, linux49-bbswitch, and linux49-r8168 ? Am I missing anything? I have an optimus dual-GPU laptop running the free bumblebee drivers, and I use OpenRC.

#24

@physkets
if you used the kernel module in the kde-settings. try to use manjaro-settings-manager from the settings menu -> manjaro-settings-manager. there is a timeout bug in the kcm module. (or check the running process until pacman end) this bug should be solved soon with the next manjaro-settings-manager update with kde framework 5.29

otherwise you can use mhwd-kernel
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux49

#25

My only complaint is that my bluetooth connections dont seem to be working anymore. I booted to a black screen with a blinking light but rebooted and all appeared well.

#26

Smooth sailing on KDE (Octopi, run in Terminal) and netbook using the GUI.

#27

Hi. After upgrading to kernel 4.9, I can see this error during boot:

After that PC boots a works normally. I saw this error in other thread [Linux 4.9 RC3/4] ACPI Error DSSP Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND and https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43229. Sources suggest either to upgrade BIOS or ignore errors. So I guess Manjaro can’t do anything about it and I’m just reporting it.

#28

i get similar to this too but mine boots

#29

Do you use KDE by any chance? I find that for me on KDE the Manjaro Settings Manager does that for any kernel I install. Although the message says done, if you leave it alone it will continue to download the packages. Then when you are sure that it is all finished downloading, if you exit and click install again, it will install properly. I find that the command line utility mhwd-kernel is more reliable - at least on KDE. The GUI works alright in the XFCE edition.
Edit: Oops. Didn’t see that the solution was already posted.

#30

i also get this same msg when booting with 4.9 and i have AMD FX-8150.

besides that the actual update went smooth and everything works fine.

#33

Adobe no longer supports protected Flash content on Linux. You could either stick with Flash Player 11.2, although it will no longer receive security updates, or use Wine to run the Windows versions of Firefox and Flash Player.

#34

Updated without a problem on KDE, including the 4.9 kernel. Good job! Hwinfo: http://pastebin.com/XrW5iEec .

#35

Thank you. I looked into this further, and will test the Windows FF under Wine method.

#36

smooth sailing, 4.9 seems to work fine - Thanks!

#37

I tried installing 16.10.3 but video drivers keep crashing. May be my card doesn’t like open source drivers. As they keep crashing, there is no way to stay login while system is being updated. Hence no way to check if AMDGPU-PRO now available on my graphic card with Linux 4.9. Instead of going in GUI, I tried ctrl+alt+f2 and tried running ‘pppoeconf’ and ‘pppoe-setup’ commands to setup dsl connection but it looks like this program is not installed in Manjaro.
I am waiting for new release of Manjaro with Linux 4.9 and AMDGPU-PRO drivers with iso image.

#38

Any ideas ?!?

Not sure if it’s related, but after updating, running Screenfetch produced the following line:

/usr/bin/screenfetch: line 1237: bc: command not found

I never experienced this before, but just recently switched to linux49 from linux44.

Easily resolved with sudo pacman -S bc though.
