[Stable Update] 2016-10-31 - Manjaro Fringilla finally released

After two months of development, we are happy to present Manjaro Fringilla to you!

Manjaro Fringilla was the last release we used a month in our Version number. On a rolling release model it is not always precise to predict if we even make it on the given timeframe. The development of Fringilla was a little hectic due last minute issues and the update to GTK 3.22. However we made it after all.

Package-wise we updated our kernels, fixed some issues in Calamares and Octopi. Libreoffice made it with version 5.1.6 on our install medias. We also added the latest vulkan stack and Mesa 13.0.0rc2 to have the latest graphical drivers available. Also the Xorg-Stack is at 1.18 series with this release. All upstream packages have been updated up to Snapshot: Sun Oct 30 19:35:00 CET 2016. More package details with this update can be found here

So happy Halloween and enjoy this release.

Crash test dummy reporting - all is good! (Mmm, cookies.)

Love your work.

Absolutely no problem, thanks

And the new kernel 4.8.5 !

Hi, I’m hoping for some guidance here, as I am still kinda new and in charge of maintaining 3 family members manjaro laptops/computers. Frankly I am having a hard time keeping up with the quick updates in the last week. Is there something special I need to do to successfully update a laptop that has not received the 10-28 update yet and now has the 10-31 update as well? Thanks for the help, everyone is loving Manjaro and I don’t want to screw it up for them!

Update: Thanks kouros17!!

No, nothing special.

@philm if you do not release the iso today you will have to name it 16.11

Wasn’t 16.08 released on September?

ah do not focus on details

16.08 was released on August 31st, so if Phil does it again, he will release 16.10 on October 31st, so today.

Excelent job guys

3 months circle very short time lets make 6 months

it is 2 months

So far so good. Thanks for all your hard work.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to you too Philip. Thanks for your efforts and beautiful release.

Update works fine, but no chance to run kernel from 4.9 rc1 till 4.9rc3. There are the blinking points under “Manjaro” and that´s all.

Two small things I’ve noticed in this update:

1. Kernel version 4.9 RC3 does not boot

2. When opening Mousepad or Gedit via the terminal using sudo, a stream of errors appears

sudo mousepad
