Stable/KDE/AMD APU - Lost Hardware Rendering After Trying Wayland And Dual Displays?

Hi,

Bit of a problem here:
I am running Manjaro KDE with x11 on a AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics.
I recently tried Wayland and also dual displays, but after that I lost AMDGPU driver?
(it is in software mode now - “llvmpipe” according to Info Center)

Can someone help me fix the above?
Thank you in advance!

Jesse

Assuming you are referring to xf86-video-amdgpu - then you don’t need it.

Tried multiple time to make a preformatted text box but it’s not working

Fixed that for you.

According to the your info - you are using the amdgpu driver.

Hardware rendering is not automated by the operating system - it is requested by the software in question.

Things that worked before are no longer working:

  • SuperPosition graphic benchmark runs at 2 FPS (before it ran at ~25 FPS).
  • Godot engine IDE says Vulkan is not available (before it worked perfectly)

Apparently the application in question is trying to use vulkan but fails - the logical thing is to troubleshoot your vulkan setup - start by listing information provided by the app

vulkaninfo

It could be that you have removed vulkan packages required.

vulkaninfo                                                                                     ✔

Hi, these words should live in a pre-formatted text box.

What you should be doing is this:

```
Hi, these words should live in a pre-formatted text box.
```

Try it.

Edit:-

I see you have now corrected it.
That is how you should always present code or command output.

So, when pasting inxi output you would do the same:

```
Paste your inxi output here
```

Paste your inxi output here
Paste your inxi output here
Paste your inxi output here
Paste your inxi output here
Paste your inxi output here
Paste your inxi output here

Notice how the text box is scrollable? Neat, eh?
See, it’s not :rocket: science, is it? :wink:

Incidentally, in the edit window you will see a button that looks like </> clicking that produces the same rows of backticks for you to paste any code or command output between.

Try that too.

Now, please return to your previous post(s) and edit the content while using your new found magic. :man_mage:

OK, I think that is done.
Does anyone know how to fix Vulkan?

I think you may have bigger problems when vulkaninfo prints such messages.

You may find it necessary to check your file system for damage… I cannot know of course - but to me it looks like your file system has - at least partly - gone bonkers.
