Spyder is not starting

I just installed spyder with all its optional dependencies. But it isn’t running. Starting from terminal gives these errors:

seems decorator (python-decorator) is too new, there is v5.0.9 in the repository now

I’ve installed older one:

pip install decorator==4.4.2

But UI is not responding.

normal arch package spyder5 gives more error, why don’t you try spyder that comes with anaconda navigator… it works pretty good

I was using spyder from anaconda distribution but the UI was not so good. In addition, only the fusion theme was enabled. So I wanted to see how it works from official repo. But everything is same. It would be better if I could use Kvantum here.

You can download the PKGBUILD for python-decorator 4.4.2 here:

use makepkg to build the package and use sudo pacman -U to install it.
The dependencies of Spyder is currently terribly fucked up, so unless the upstream fix this issue, what we can do is only to use pip or conda to install a workable Spyder if you don’t want to rely on out-of-date official packages.
