Spinning wheel graphic damaged at login

Hello,
after logging into the system, the basic user avatar appears on the spinning wheel during loading. Additionally, after logging in, the volume bar immediately appears on the desktop. How can I fix this problem?

Mod edit:- A brief description is sufficient to not warrant inclusion of screenshots. Images removed – Save the Server!

We know nothing about your system.
Not what Desktop Environment, not what display manager, not what theme you applied to either one, not what startup applications or scripts are set …
So, trying to answer the question as it stands is not possible and would amount to pure speculation.

Indeed; the results of inxi -zv8 would be a good start.
(Please use proper code formatting).

@KernelPanic

I’m forced to agree. Without sufficient supporting information provided, we enter the realm of vague guesswork, at best.

My immediate guesses include;

  • Broken theme configuration or file(s).
  • Manjaro was installed without first checking the ISO for consistency; a damaged may result in problems that are impossible to predict, despite the OS installation completing without issue.

Please provide (at minimum) the requested system information as described (below). There you will also find a link to instructions for expected formatting and other important information, including Forum Rules.

Regards.

Note:- Topic title changed to correct spelling and enhance search results. Change it again to include the Desktop Environment that you use; please also add that DE as an optional tag. :eyes:

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit.

To that end, links are provided (below) - Please use them.

Be prepared to provide outputs from various commands when asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Waiting for others to blindly ask questions can be counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – Instead, please help others to make informed suggestions, based on information you provide.

Update Announcements

The Update Announcements contain important information and a Known Issues and Solutions section that should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form (preferred):

inxi -zv8

System is after full clean reinstall with KDE. Everything standard from installer.
After changing X11 to Wayland there is just black square instead of avatar image

Below output of inxi -zv8:

Just so I have this right the avatar isn’t displayed in the few seconds between logging in and displaying the KDE desktop?

Does the login screen display the avatar correctly?

The login is handled by SDDM, then once logged in your are passed over to X or Wayland desktop. A web search for “sddm not displaying avatar” shows MANY similar issues but I’m not entirely sure that is where your problem is.

Can you describe where it appears? Is it the popup from the notification panel? Does it disappear by itself or do you have to do something? Can you interact with it?

I can’t help with the user avatar issue, but the volume OSD (on-screen display) should be easily fixable. Just open System Settings → Sound and remove the ticks from the “Show OSD popups for changes to:” section:

No, thing is that after you give password on login screen normally there is a spinning wheel under manjaro logo (loading spining circle). With my bug there is also spining avatar image. I added screenshot of it, because its very unusual, but mod deleted it. Gonna try to send it one more time, especially there are questions about it.

Assistant edit:
removed the picture once again - uploaded it to a sharing platform, where it will be available for 5 days from now via the following link:

forumpic — Postimages

It pops out on the center of screen, couple centimeters above taskbar. Disappear by itself just normal when volume is changed. Can interact with it, and its not very annoying. Mentioned it just to give some hint.

Yesterday i had two freezes, something about 30-45 minutes after system start. Everything stopped except mouse arrow and music played from speakers. Maybe thats a clue

Thanks for the answer, but expect that unusual start pop out I want that notifications. I mentioned about it just to give a little clue

The picture you posted
(which I replaced with a link to some image sharing platform where it is now hosted for the next 5 days)
shows a customized installation.

This is not the standard theme which is present with a fresh install.

It is not unlikely that your issue is caused by an incompatible theme … :man_shrugging:

Please do the following, and then reboot; Go to:

System SettingsAppearance & StyleColours & ThemesSplash Screen

Change the Splash screen from whatever it is now, to something else – perhaps “Breeze” or “None”.

Reboot and see if that helps. If not, then do the same as before but choose Login Screen (SDDM) (instead of Splash Screen)…

Set your login screen to “Breeze”, or in any case, something different from whatever is currently selected, then reboot.

Lastly, if neither of the above steps helped, change your global theme to one of the defaults.

Let us know if any of these helped.

Regards.

I trully didn’t change it. Until now, I didn’t even know it could be changed.

Its with manjaro installer, on previous instalation worked fine.

That helped, thanks a lot.

Is there any possibility to fix that “breath” splash screen? I cant delete it to make reinstall

That is odd
I just three hours ago did an installation using the most recent Manjaro Plasma (minimal) edition -
and that is definitely not the theme or display manager background it comes with.
That picture isn’t even available in the standard selection this edition comes with by default.

That is why I concluded that yours is not an unaltered fresh installation. :man_shrugging:

So I had to change it randomly, sorry for deception.

Hmm … no, you didn’t have to -
but you did.
Whenever you go for something that isn’t already there by default - when you click: “get new” or something to that effect - you might be getting incompatible stuff.

There is a clear warning message in orange at the top of that window when you go that route:

Use caution when accessing user-created content shown here, as it may contain executable code that hasn’t been tested by KDE or Manjaro Linux for safety, stability, or quality.

I suggest you go back to defaults and then see whether your issue persists …

ps:
I just removed your solution mark from (your own) post number 12 here
since it is unclear how this was your solution to your problem
… it might have been the solution - but it wasn’t yours …

Glad I could help.

The “Breath” splash screen is part of a (default) global theme – I don’t know if it can be easily removed/replaced – certainly it can’t be while it is in use.

However, I imagine it might be replaced as a matter of course with the next “big update” that includes the next KDE version; but, please don’t ask “when” that will be; all I could tell you is “soon(ish)”.

That being the case, wait until then and try switching back to the Breath splash screen to see if it’s fixed.

Regards.
