[SOLVED] Microphone plugged into a Scarlett Solo USB does not record my voice when making a voice call on hangouts using Brave or Firefox.

When trying to make phone calls using google hangout on the web browsers brave and opera my voice isn't detected and nothing shows up under Audio Volume Settings > Audio > Applications > Recording Streams.
https://hangouts.google.com:443 is allowed in the browsers' microphone access settings.
I have tested both Default and the Scarlett Solo USB options in the hangouts' microphone settings during the phone calls.

Audio Volume Settings > Audio > Advanced > Scarlett Solo USB > Profile: Digital Stereo {IEC958} Input is selected.
When I record on audacity "ALSA plug-in [audacity]: ALSA Capture" does show up as a recording stream and my voice is detected.
With OBS running, OBS: Desktop Audio shows up under Recording Streams, but the OBS audio mixer does not detect my voice nor did the recording capture any audio.

Audio Volume Settings > Audio > Advanced > Scarlett Solo USB > Profile: Analog Stereo Input is selected.
With OBS running, OBS: Desktop Audio AND OBS: Mic/Aux show up under Recording Streams. The OBS audio mixer does detect my voice and I can hear my voice in the recording.
Audacity captures my voice just fine with the Profile: Analog Stereo Input setting.

The system is up to date.

I read Microphone not working in browsers to see if it might solve my problem.
Ran $ alsamixer -c0 --view=Capture
Pressed F6 > Selected: Scarlett Solo USB
shows that "This sound device does not have any controls."
The screen shows "View: F3: Playback F4: Capture F5: All", but pressing the F3, F4, and F5 keys does nothing.
I don't think nikgnomic's solution applies to my case.

Onboard Audio HD-Audio Generic has alsamixer controls configured for Front Mic
but Active Profile for this card is set to output:analog-stereofor audio playback only

A microphone with an XLR connection intended for use with an audio interface would not be likely to work connected to onboard audio 3.5mm jack.
a condenser microphone would not work without phantom power
a dynamic microphone would likely be inaudible or have a lot of backgound hiss if onboard audio capture levels were set to maximum

Scarlett Solo USB device would not have any software controls in alsamixer because settings are only controlled by hardware switches and level controls on the interface

pulsaudio Active Profile for microphone input source from USB device is shown as available
and looks ok

if OBS is able to capture audio from The Microphone > USB interface > Pulseaudio then a web browser should be able to do the same

maybe Opera does not support audio for Google Hangouts (WebRTC protocol?)
and maybe Brave does not allow microphone sharing for security

i have had problems with Firefox using webRTC with some VOIP services in the past

so suggest check if Hangouts work with chromium browser

I installed chromium, made absolutely no settings changes, not even allowing hangouts to access the microphone (I'm pretty sure it used the same settings as Brave), made a call with hangouts, and the microphone worked.
Made a call with Brave and it worked.

The update I made in between my original post and your reply was just to update the Brave browser. Maybe the problem was fixed with the latest Brave update?
