Black screen on boot after recent system update - Kepler - required 470 nvidias drivers

Hello,

After yesterdays full system update I was greeted with a black screen on boot. Manually running startplasma-x11 gives me: $DISPLAY is not set or cannot connect to the X server.

This is my Xorg.0.log:

Warning: no configs for USB devices found!

you have a Kepler series video card
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5204/~/list-of-kepler-series-geforce-desktop-gpus

so in terminal

sudo mhwd -r pci video-linux
sudo mhwd -r pci video-nvidia
sudo mhwd -i pci video-nvidia-470xx

Thanks! That worked wonderfully. I guess I might start saving up for some more modern GPU.
Any thoughts on why my system worked fine with wrong drivers up to that point?

see also Testing , Unstable
