[SOLVED] Diagnosing laptop screen freezing; external is fine

UPDATE: I've been mucking about with my intel drivers. I added the driver i915 to the initramfs and set enable_rc6=0 enable_fbc=0 enable_psr=0 in /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf and have not had a freeze in several hours. I will wait a couple days to see if it's really fixed then mark this as solved.

My laptop screen has begun randomly freezing after booting up and logging in to X, but besides the frozen screen the system appears to be running normally. When I connect the laptop to an external display and mirror the screens, the freeze occurs on the laptop monitor but the mirrored external display functions normally. If I toggle off the internal display with xrandr then toggle it back on, it functions normally for a minute or so then freezes again. Killing X or changing tty has no effect on the frozen screen.

I have examined the system log but don't see anything suspicious; I will paste a system log. Basically I'm trying to figure out if the laptop is hooped, or if anyone has any ideas to help me diagnose the problem.

Things I've done:
Tried different kernels (5.1, 5.2, 4.19)
Removed all peripherals, disabled all wireless signals; problem occurs with/without charger plugged in
UPDATE: removed all display drivers except mesa, tried with clean xorg.conf.d/, installed windows and ran it for an hour - couldn't replicate freeze

laptop is a Dell XPS 13
you can see some complaints about not finding an nvidia device in the log; this is because I occasionally use an eGPU.
