System won't boot after update

Yesterday there were a whole lot of new updates in pamac, so I installed them all before shutting down for the night. Today, the system gets stuck on boot. I hear my HDD loading for a while, then nothing.

A second issue I have, which was never a problem before now, is that I don’t get any boot menu when booting from the HDD, and only one line of information while loading the system, before it goes to the login screen (it shows up fine when booting from USB.) This means that I can’t see if there’s any error message when the boot fails.

Press ESC during boot to bring up the grub menu.

Also please read:

If your machine uses nvidia graphics, please do a forum search: there are plenty of driver related problems (and solutions!) already posted.

have you try to login in TTY ?
try with Ctrl+Alt +F2 to F7

if not you will use USB live manjaro for chroot to check in journal logs and X11 logs

Thank you, this helped a lot. I managed to resolve the problem by reinstalling the nvidia drivers.

I checked Xorg.0.log and it shows this:

However, what confused me is that when running mhwd -l it doesn’t say anything about 495.44 drivers

You should probably give some thought into upgrading the kernel since your running 5.13 which has been end of life for some time now.You can try 5.14 or 5.15.

It doesn’t show the latest one video-nvidia as it’s not supported by your GPU.
