Slow Cinnamon, solution exists but I can't find it anymore

My Manjaro is extremely slow in opening applications. I had this issue before, and I had it solved by some post that I found on this forum. But now that I re-installed Manjaro, the issue is back, but I can’t find that post anymore.

The solution involved replacing some Gnome module with an alternative version.

Would anyone know where I can find that post again?

And wouldn’t it be a good idea for the Manjaro team to implement this solution in the upcoming updates/versions of Manjaro?

With regards,
A.

If you are referring to the xdg-desktop-portal-gnome bug, then that’s supposed to only affect non-GNOME environments. But anyway, if that’s what you want to do, then… :arrow_down:

sudo pacman -Rdd xdg-desktop-portal-gnome && sudo pacman -S xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

:man_shrugging:

I use the Cinnamon DE (which is gnome-based), but somehow the solution worked fine for me before.

Probably bad gnome configuration (bad extension?) … gnome-portal doesnt have the same negative impact as it does on others.
(and didnt used to, and will stop being a problem again, after some updates … though outside of gnome people shouldnt have it installed anyways)

And theres the actual confusion.
Then you arent using gnome and the suggestion does apply.

(…I will edit all of your erroneous title stuff then.)

Not really. It’s a fork of GNOME, and it is by now already sufficiently different. :wink:

I haz already dun det. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you guys btw for your swift response. It’s highly appreciated.

…which was fixed with xdg-desktop-portal-gnome 44.2-1. :wink:
