Sleep mode missing after 2026-05-02 Stable Update

Thanks for the update, it went smoothly, and I didn’t notice any major issues. That’s why I selected “no issue.”

Afterwards, I noticed that sleep mode is gone. It no longer goes into sleep mode when I close the lid.

The sleep mode option is also completely missing from the power options in the system settings. Before the stable update from May 2nd, 2026, closing the lid worked without any problems.

I’ve moved your post to a dedicated thread for better visibility.

Please don’t do that! Use code-formatted text:

Mini How-To for code formatting

Select and copy all the text in the Terminal window, then paste the output in between two lines containing three backticks ``` or three tildes ~~~ (or paste then highlight the text and click the </> button at the top of the reply window, easier for smaller outputs).

The same applies for your System Information as posted above; a snippet is rarely of much help, therefore could you also include

inxi -zv8

Cheers!

Thanks. One idea I have, for investigation:
What happens if you try to suspend from the Terminal? e.g. suspend ← this works on its own for me, but you could also try systemctl suspend -i (which also inhibits e.g. the mouse from keeping it awake).

You should at least see some Terminal output.

also a thank you from me.
With systemctl suspend -i in the terminal, the laptop monitor turns off. Then I assume it goes into the S3 (Suspend to RAM)?
The two green LEDs stay on, otherwise they always go out in the S4 (Hibernate / Suspend to Disk).
Notebook doesn’t shut down like usual and doesn’t really turn off.

Otherwise in the S4 (Hibernate / Suspend to Disk) it shut down completely and switched itself off and both LEDs went off.

There was no output in the terminal and systemctl suspend -i, just screen off.

Translated by Google

I use systemctl hibernate -i for suspending to disk (S4).

Hello thank you.

systemctl hibernate -i shows no Infos in Terminal.

But it hibernates, it does what it should do.

It hibernates as it done before.

Now, after I haven’t change anything, it works again as it did before. :+1:

Problem seem to be solved.

Even in the he power settings in the system settings show that hibernating again.

So why ever the problem solved.

The Manjaro Team did a great Job as usually.

Thanks

The problem isn’t solved.

-i, --ignore-inhibitors

Ignore inhibitor locks (such as devices or services that can prevent or interrupt sleep).

This is a workaround.

Something (a device, ACPI wake source, or kernel change) is waking the system after the update.
Put the system to sleep normally (no -i). When it wakes up, run:

cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

What’s the output?

Indeed, and just intended to prove the system can go into suspend.

It seems it can’t go into proper suspend mode like it should, so not a solution. Which kernel(s) were you using previously which worked? … in any case, it’s always a good idea to try another one e.g. linux618 etc. and see if the suspend works with one of those (I prefer to recommend LTS kernels).

hello thank you again

But aas of now it works as it shoul, I close the lid and i goes in hibernate and wake up with no errors.

The only thing is a little flickering when I close a windows.

Many friendly greetings

So there’s 6 possible culprits.

XHC is a likely suspect here as it’s a USB controller, and it is enabled as a wake source.

Try disabling it temporarily:

echo XHC | sudo tee /proc/acpi/wakeup

Then test suspend normally again (without -i).

If suspend now works properly, then a USB device or the USB controller itself is waking the system immediately after sleep.

If it’s not that, we would try the others until you find it.

e.g.

echo PEG0 | sudo tee /proc/acpi/wakeup

And down the list..

Once we know what it is, we can decide how to deal with it.

Thank you @Molski ,

when I close the Lid it does hibernate my System Notebook and powers off.
After I open the Lid it powers on and I have my last Desktop, as it was before.

Thant ist what I wanted. And was trying to write or tell.

BUT my English is no good anymore, as it used to be when I was younger. Now I have no practise and no need to talk or write in English.
That is why I may have expressed myself poorly wrong in my previous replies.
I don’t want “Suspend”
I only want “Hibernate.” It is now working correctly again.

Here is a screenshot from the System Manager.
Missing hibernating

It shows that the “Hibernate” setting was missing.
Now it is back again.

For me, the problem is solved.

Only a little short flicker, when I close a window like a browser or kate or so.
But that will be fix by a newer Kernel or Nvidia Driver I Guess soon.

Again
Many many Thanks all
Tony
