Package install from AUR - error

Hi team -
I’m starting fresh with a new System76 machine, reinstalling all kind of stuff, and am getting errors installed several packages from the AUR. Most likely it’s me, but it’s worked before. It seems be pointing to the sources but I might be wrong. Below is an example:

galago% yay -S system76-driver

I’d suggest trying with pamac so that you may have more explicit errors.

pamac build system76-driver system76-firmware-daemon

You need the package binutils for the strip binary, which is part of the base-devel group.

As mentioned in the Arch Wiki, you should install the base-devel group if you want to install AUR packages.

sudo pacman -Syu base-devel --needed

After that, try to install the AUR package again.

thanks for that reminder…
fixed it.

That might be another user-friendly element of Pamac’s GUI. Doesn’t it automatically pull in those packages the first time you enable AUR support?

Not exactly that, but when you install an AUR package, pamac automatically installs the base--devel group first. :relieved:
