Show CPU Name in plasma-systemmonitor

Hi all!
Just working on personalizing my first Linux environment and I would love to show my CPU Name in System Monitor (e.g. like the GPU is shown as “Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060”). Is this somehow possible?

Thank you

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
  3. This is a screenshot of the standard KDE System Monitor (ksysguard):

Could you describe in more detail what you’re trying to accomplish?

:+1:

and my “problem” is, that I can show the GPU name with text only sensors but I cannot show the CPU Name. When I choose CPU, i can further choose individual cores, the group of all cores or “all”. When i go to all, I can choose name, but it will only show “name” and not - as I would like - e.g. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X… etc.

Here I would like to have the CPU Name instead of the word all:

Hope it helps and it is now clearer, what I want to achieve

That looks like an application I don’t have, so I can’t help you any further I’m afraid…

For monitoring I use Conky and was under the impression you used standard ksysguard

@Fabby “We gradually improve the applications which ship with Plasma too, and have transitioned to Plasma System Monitor from the older KSysguard as the default system monitoring app.”

Do you have an executable name because:

2021-07-17_14-00

and I can’t find it…

:sob:

The package is called plasma-systemmonitor and has a menu entry when it’s installed.

@Synfoxic I don’t think CPU name is supported (yet), since it would have an entry like “GPU Name” has if it was.

Very nice. That is the first I have seen of the new system monitor. I don’t use those things very much, but that is a nice looking application.

thank you for the reply
I already assumed, that it just isn’t available yet. Hope it will be in the future  (so I can flex to myself haha)
Just hoped, there may be a trick for that :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve marked this answer as the solution to your question as it is by far the best answer you’ll get.

However, if you disagree with my choice, please feel free to take any other answer as the solution to your question or even remove the solution altogether: You are in control! (If you disagree with my choice, just send me a personal message and explain why I shouldn’t have done this or  or :+1: if you agree)

:innocent:
P.S. In the future, please don’t forget to come back and click the 3 dots below the answer to mark a solution like this below the answer that helped you most:

so that the next person that has the exact same problem you just had will benefit from your post as well as your question will now be in the “solved” status.

yeah, I love it as you can customize so much and make your very own “Task-Manager” with graphs, text, pie charts and other charts!
Can totally recommend, although I have not used the older version
