Shell dialogues open in a language other than the specified system locale

I’ve recently started to use Manjaro (again), and I’ve encountered a strange problem on my fresh install of Manjaro Gnome edition 20.2.1: prompt popups are displayed in a language - unsure which, though it seems to be RTL - which does not match the system language I’ve specified.

(see fragmented link for picture, can’t attach media or include links).

I’ve got no clue how to diagnose this problem other than ensuring that the system locale is set to what I’d like it to be, so after making sure that it was (initially English, switched to German just to see if that might iron it out), I’m kinda stuck.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

locale

Thanks for welcoming me :grin:

locale outputs:

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE=C
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

I had checked this already, since a misconfigured locale was the only thing which came to mind

edit: grammar

Well, darn. That would have been too easy. What application is that dialog from?
