Second monitor can't be turned on

Hi, everyone! Sorry in advance for any confusion I might be making. But this week I turned off my second monitor on Display Settings and now whenever I try to turn it on back again, using the Display Settings, the computer freezes and I can’t do anything but force restart. Is there anyway to turn it back on again via terminal or some other way? It works just fine on Windows (I am running a dual boot). The computer is 1 week old lol and I am new to Manjaro so I don’t really know what to do.

FYI, that’s an abandoned, third-party project that has seen not seen any activity in about 4 years.

Oops! You’re right.

@mariosanseverino are you sure the monitor is properly connected? Only one monitor is being detected. Where are the monitors plugged?

I’m pretty sure the monitor is very well connected. I am using a HDMI port and, as I mentioned before, it works perfectly fine on Windows when I change OS via dual boot.

:worried:
Leaving this comment just in case someone might notice the post and would still be able to help.

Does it work with X instead of Wayland? You can choose this on the login screen.

I’d say Windows may have something to do with this, but I’m not sure. I’ve seen cases where Windows’ settings input to BIOS/UEFI stay latent between boots and affect Linux. I’ve seen these affect sound and network, but I never saw problems related to monitor detection or video in general.

The way to circumvent this, if this is the case, is to disable “fast startup” in Windows and never hibernate it before booting Linux. If you want to test this, you can shut down the computer, unplug the power cord, remove the battery, and wait a few seconds before booting it again.

Alternatively, you can try logging in with X instead of Wayland, like @mithrial suggested.

Some systems with dual video cards, such as yours, have the external monitor plug directly attached to the dedicated video card and require a different tool to access it (such as prime). I wont develop this any more because a) I don’t have experience with it and b) I doubt this is the issue because you referred it worked before. Anyway, I suggest you read the ArchWiki page about NVidia prime.

I hope you can solve this issue.
