Sddm configuration question

im really not a fan of the gdm login manager so i decided to set up sddm as my login manager.

but it sadly also changes the shell it seems. the menu items ive set up in the topbar and in dash to dock are different/gone and i have these silber bars on the top and bottom

id like to keep sddm as my login manager but dont want it to interfere with my shell settings.

is that possible?

How did you set it up?

Usually, a systemctl enable sddm

(Or however the sddm service is called)
