screenfetch error - awk: cmd. line:7: warning: regexp escape sequence `\"' is not a known regexp operator

Continuing the discussion from (SOLVED) Stable Update says OS: Manjaro 18.1.0-rc7 Juhraya :

awk: cmd. line:7: warning: regexp escape sequence `"' is not a known regexp operator

This message didn't exist before I just had 287 packages update yesterday. Can anyone please provide some simple help. I don't have the patience for this right now. (sorry, disabled and medicated please cut some slack) Took me two days to get pulseeffects and jack realtime audio working last week, pulling my hair out turned out it was BOTH KDE wallet and Gnome Keyring. My brain can't take another issue now. My system was finally running flawlessly. I know this doesn't hurt anything. It's just not perfect anymore. And man it was damn perfect. Finest Linux install I've ever had.

I've edited the OP to remove hyperbole and focus on the issue at hand.

Hello joetheman74.

The solution is in this post:

https://github.com/cody-rocker/screenFetch/commit/d850a33afa9b4b6ab398b2620f1edd6dfbe44c2c

You have to open the file /bin/screenfetch and search for the line

gsub(/\"/,"",de)

and change it by deleting \ to

gsub(/"/,"",de).

You have to change it with root permissions like

sudo nano (or your text editor of choice) /bin/screenfetch

This solved the screenfetch issue for me. Hope this helps.
