Screen won't blank with audio active

The screen used to blank as configured in Gnome Settings while audio is playing. As of a recent system upgrade on the Stable branch about a week or 10 days ago the screen ONLY blanks when no audio is active. This is a new behavior & used to blank with audio playing. Tried in multiple browsers with the same result.

I think this is new behavior introduced by GNOME. When audio is playing, GNOME now treats it as active device usage, so the screen is prevented from blanking, so this is not a “bug“ . This seems to have changed recently after updates and media playback is now used as an inactivity inhibitor.
