Screen turns off again after waking from sleep mode

I just installed Manjaro and I’ve been running into a few graphics related issues (mostly not smoothly running graphics), but the one that bothers me the most is also the one I haven’t really found anything about yet.

The issue is a follows:
When the screen turns off or the machine goes into sleep mode and I wake it back up, both screens turn on but my main screen seems not to get any signal and turns off again. It also doesn’t turn on after logging in.
When I switch the input on the monitor back and forth however it turns on and continues to show the image.
The main monitor (the one with the issue) is connected by DisplayPort and is 4k 60Hz.
Secondary is connected by HDMI to DVI and is 1050p 59,95Hz.

Found a solution:

  1. Downgrade the Kernel to 5.10
  • in grub press “e” to edit the boot options, find the line that says something like:
linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.0.0-1-amd64 root=UUID=5e285652 ro quiet
  • add a “3” after the quiet, so that you get something like the following:
linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.0.0-1-amd64 root=UUID=5e285652 ro quiet 3
  • boot and log in and type:
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux510
  1. Install Nvidia driver using mhwd
sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300

Hope that works for you too!

Nope.

  • You were using nouveau, I’ve always used nvidia.
  • You’re using Wayland, I’m using Xorg
  • I always use the latest stable kernel (currently 5.14), you were using 5.13.
