Screen turns off after USB Boot

Hello! I’m a relatively new linux user and just started reading into Manjaro, so I decided to try it out and see if it was for me and my Legion 7 (15IMH05) laptop. At the moment, however, I’ve hit a roadblock. Every time I start the boot the wall of text does its thing, the splash screen with 3 dots shows, then the screen shuts off. I’m still able to interact with my pc because I can only change the volume and hear the volume increasing and decreasing through my speakers, but I’m not sure if this means I can fix this issue in this state.

I’ve verified my copy of the ISO image, I’ve booted with proprietary drivers (since my laptop runs on a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 card), and none of the function keys work when the screen is off

I appreciate any advice!

  1. Have you disabled Windows Fast Boot in Windows? .. and then shut down and powered off Windows completely.
  2. Manjaro does not support Microsoft’s ‘Secure Boot’. So you will need to turn that off in the BIOS.

With dual GPU, iGPU and dGPU, always boot the installer with free drivers as those will target the iGPU.

When the system has successfully been installed - then use mhwd to install the hybrid driver.

mhwd -i pci video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-prime

When ever you need to run an application requiring the dGPU e.g. steam - launch it with prime-run.
