Screen occasionally turns black

Notebook: From time to time the screen turns black. It cannot be reproduced. When this happens, you can move the mouse briefly and the screen will briefly return to normal before going black again. Until you press the power button. Then everything will be back to normal.

Hello @TJF

In the Gnome Settings, check the ‘Automatic Screen Blank’ and ‘Automatic Suspend’ options. For further adjustments, use the Caffeine extension: Caffeine - GNOME Shell Extensions.

NVIDIA 580.119.02

  • current 580xx driver seems to be super unstable. Users who face issues are recommended to report to NVIDIA and may want to switch to the older 570xx or 575xx driver via mhwd. You’re been warned …
  • For 580.119.02 the current workaround to avoid issues with flickering under XFCE is to disable compositing under Settings → Window Manager Tweaks → Compositor → Enable display compositing. NVIDIA is actively working on fixing this issue

I did this and will see…

I have now also deactivated the darkening settings. If that doesn’t help, can you tell me how I can specifically replace the 580xx driver with the 575xx driver?

I also checked this…
