RockPro64 dies after update

Hello

I'm happy Manjaro has embraced the RockPro64!
Sadly, it stops working whenever i install all the updates.
No ethernet, no wifi, no display output.

These are the steps leading to the problem:

  • install KDE preview 1 (screen works, network works)
  • fix the mirror path /$arch/$repo -> /$repo/$arch
  • perform update
  • install the uboot-update
# dd if=/boot/idbloader.img of=/dev/mmcblkX seek=64 conv=notrunc
# dd if=/boot/u-boot.itb of=/dev/mmcblkX seek=16384 conv=notrunc
  • reboot

Then there's nothing..
Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Install the new image (20.02.1).

Then do updates. It should work.

for anyone viewing this thread:
i'm waiting for a new SD card to arrive for testing because my 8GB SanDisk stopped working:

dd: error writing '/dev/mmcblk0': No space left on device

i've bought 2 new 16gb cards from pine64:

£ dd if=Manjaro-ARM-kde-plasma-rockpro64-20.02.1.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=4096

Mar 24 14:25:16 brot kernel: mmcblk0: p1

Surely, I must be doing something wrong - they can't both really only be 4Gb...

If anyone knows something i don't, please help me out <3

When they are plugged in, what does lsblk say in the SIZE column?

Thanks for your help? Where do i tip?

mmcblk0 179:0 0 14.7G 0 disk
└─mmcblk0p1 179:1 0 14.7G 0 part

I figured it out..
Sometimes, when the card is attached it doesn't start because of some voltage problems.
Without noticing that, I ran dd and created in file in /dev...

(and i was puzzled as too why the machine was constantly swapping / out of ram...)

with the new image, everything works even after the uboot upgrade!
