Not really surprising, but IMO this just the beginning of IBMs influence on open source going forward …

KDE Plasma Workspaces (KDE), which has been provided as an alternative to the default GNOME desktop environment has been deprecated. A future major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux will no longer support using KDE instead of the default GNOME desktop environment.

So KDE will also be eventually removed from CentOS too?

Great, the other thread almost instantly devolved into a DE flame war … FFS.


IMO it makes sense for Red Hat to do this in an enterprise corporate environment, assuming it will still be available on Fedora though.
