Reset Gnome's Accessibility/Display Settings to default?

Hello there,

I need some help regarding the Accessibility settings in Manjaro. I was playing around the screen magnification settings, because i connected to a TV screen and sometimes I could not read things on the screen. I set it up do follow the mouse cursor and then the screen froze. It send me back to the login screen. And now when I login it starts the zoom setting again. And then it freezes and sends me back to the login screen. So I am stuck and have no chance to change the setting via the GUI.

I have access to the terminal however and I was looking around for settings files in which this setting is stored. However I could not find it and I am out of ideas where to look, because I don’t know the application which is doing the zoom.

Can someone point me to a config file or give me some info on how the zoom works, so I can help myself. I basically need some info, so I can reset the setting.

If there is any other information needed let me know.

I’ve never had to do this but if I had to fix this I would log into the console (Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 and switch to TTY2. You can also try Ctrl+Alt+F3 for TTY3 if required.)

Use gsettings to reset the value you changed. See a example how to approach this issue here

$ gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications
lists these values:

org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications screen-magnifier-enabled false
org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications screen-reader-enabled false

Turn on magnification:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications screen-magnifier-enabled true
Turn off magnification:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.a11y.applications screen-magnifier-enabled false

A easy way to find values is with dconf with is a visual tool with a search option. If you have a install medium you can play around with it in a live session to see what works for you and your hardware without braking your system next time :slight_smile:
