Void linux does get you to start thinking more of the OS. But No were near as much as Gentoo.
VM is not a bad way to test thing out. For installing Void Linux. open up the terminal.
sudo su > type
bash (by default. void root is set to dash. so no auto complete with tab support) >
void tab. tui installer should show up by this point. this is really simple from here. the only part that you should know about. is after setting network. this is where it ask about how it should be installed. by network or locals. pick locals. other wise. with network install. it will be bare bones linux with only the core support of cli apps. locals will used what the iso was started with.
