Yesterday I upgraded to the new grub and I had no problem. This morning I only had this change to upgrade so yes I’m sure something is wrong here.
The message was “I should load the kernel first”.
I had to reset a back-up to get the computer to boot.
grub-install
Installing for x86_64-efi platform.
grub-install: warning: disk does not exist, so falling back to partition device /dev/nvme0n1p1.

EDIT: i did “sudo update-grub” before the upgrade and everything seems ok now.
