Well then just boot from live usb and mount it from there. Guaranteed to work.

Um… I don’t quite understand why you’re going to all that trouble fiddling with the permissions?
A simple sudo ls -alp /boot/efi/ should be enough to take a quick look, and then you can just follow it up with sudo nano /boot/efi/EFI/refind/refind.conf.
Don’t be afraid of the terminal—it’s not rocket science.

Why be so modest and settle for just a wallpaper… when there are such cool themes out there?
