Well, I recall it differently; at least, I think I do.
The only reason (as far as I am aware) that blacklisting the NTFS3
module in favour of NTFS-3G
became popular, is that nobody understood why NTFS3
was actively preventing NTFS volumes from mounting.
The easiest ‘not-a-solution’ was to blacklist NTFS3
and install/use NTFS-3G
which ignored the dirty bit. This was also the go to suggestion by many people equally ignorant of the reasons for this NTFS3
security measure.
