Quick Sleep Low Battery Question(s)

Hey guys! Wondering does Manjaro XFCE wake then shut down on low battery (0%), just lose the suspend parameter … like what exactly does it do. Also, is there a code and or Github with a script, etc. I can add to have it wake then shut down or go into hibenate.

Many thanks!

(Sorry if wrong Category, I’m assuming this is kernel based questions / tech)

These are settings in the power manager. You can manage the level of remaining juice and what you want to be done.

And/or other things like

(careful not to create conflicting or overlapping configs)

I’d certainly say to increase that value, as by 0% it’s already too late for the system to have time to hibernate or shut down. Try to avoid running the battery completely flat if you can, as this can destroy the electrodes (= time for new battery!). Also, if your machine supports this (if it does, these settings should be available; at least they are in Plasma), I recommend setting a charge limit (maybe 90%). This should extend the useful life of your battery.

I’d suggest something like 10% or maybe more for “critical” level, depending on the condition of your battery and the power consumption.

The output of acpi -V should give us more information to suggest possibly suitable levels.

I’d also suggest not using sleep-then-hibernate as I have found it less than reliable and just causes extra stress on the system (power cycles).
