PTP Camera/iPhone not recognised by Thunar

@robinw0800

Starting a new topic for this so that it may help others.

Neither my camera nor my iPhone is being detected by Thunar even though they appear in the output for lsusb.

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 05ac:1294 Apple, Inc. iPhone 3GS
Bus 003 Device 007: ID 04cb:01c1 Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd FinePix F31fd (PTP)

I added my User ID to the uucp and usbmux Groups and I installed the gvfs-afc 1.30.3+4+gd79b4650-1 package also but to no avail.

The following 2 packages were already installed.

gvfs-gphoto2 1.30.3+4+gd79b4650-1
gvfs-mtp 1.30.3+4+gd79b4650-1

Thanks, MTB.

Do you have thunar-volman installed?

Some iPhones can be a bit tricky, but most newer models work fine:

@AJSlye

thunar-volman 0.8.1-2 is already installed.

Both of these devices were working before the latest updates I applied which included the change to the use of elogind.

As I noted in my original post, I have gvfs-afc installed which I did via the graphical package manager.

Sorry, I can’t help. I’m not familiar with elogind. Maybe some one from our openrc team can help you out.

For openrc and i-phones add yourself to the “usbmux” group

@robinw0800

Did that already.

I installed ifuse 1.1.3-4.

libplist 1.12-6 and libimobiledevice 1.2.0-6 were already installed.

It is still SNAFU.

Very :disappointed: because this is not the first time that this has happened with this version of Manajro.

If connectivity for the systemd (puke, puke) version can function Out of the Box for phones and cameras then there is no reason why people should not be able to expect the same for the OpenRC version.

There are 203 updates available. Will these fix the connectivity problems associated with iPhones and USB (PTP) cameras?
