KDE Plasma - desktop icons gone and taskmanager icons not working

Hello everyone.

I am having a problem with my desktop and task manager icons.

The desktop icons have completely disappeared and the “Create New” command on the right-click menu is disabled. The application icons that I had pinned on the task manager are there, but when clicked they start the cursor animation as if the corresponding application is starting - but nothing happens and the animation ends.

Reinstalling KDE did not help.
