Prevent kernel updates

Hello I’l new with manjaro… I’d like to know if it’s possible to prevent just kernel updates from new system update. as I’m already at 5.7 and would like to avoid 5.8 until virtualbox is confirmed working with that revision. ty

Hello and welcome,

in general you get updates within a version. lets say 5.7.19-2 gets updated to 5.7.20-1, but it will never upgrade from 5.7 to 5.8 automatically. You need to do it then manually.

Hope that helps

perfect! thanks

Hi!
The issue with virtualbox using 5.8 has been fixed with the last update.

After system installation, I prefer to change kernel to a lts version, such as 5.4 or 4.19, which is stable enough for me.

There is a dummy package called 'linux-latest' which will roll you over to 5.8 when the maintainer decides it’s time. Remove that package to manually manage your kernels or install 'linux-lts' to stay on an LTS kernel which in this case is currently 5.4.
