Power-profiles-daemon not starting after latest stable update

I am having an issue where power-profiles-daemon is no longer starting via systemd after the latest stable updates. I confirmed that it was running prior to restarting after the update. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and that didn’t help.

However, I also tried running sudo /usr/lib/power-profiles-daemon -vv which does work.

/usr/lib/systemd/system/power-profiles-daemon.service

Try to start the daemon:

systemctl start power-profiles-daemon

Then check the status again:

systemctl status power-profiles-daemon

If the daemon is now running, enable it with:

systemctl enable power-profiles-daemon

You can reboot and check status again, if you like, but the service should now be enabled on boot.

Regards.

If you ever need to disable the service:

systemctl disable power-profiles-daemon

I have tried this numerous times (I probably should have mentioned that), and it just hangs and never starts, but also provides no log output, even with the -vv (verbose) flag.

I see from your inxi output that you’re using the Stable branch – There is a new Stable Update (today):

You might apply that, to see if it brings with it any joy.

If the issue still persists, by all means return to this topic with any updated detail. Your system information will of course need to be updated.

Regards.

I installed those updates, and sadly no improvement. Still does not start via systemd.

The following might have no effect, but try:

systemctl stop power-profiles-daemon
systemctl disable power-profiles-daemon

Uninstall and Install power-profiles-daemon (not reinstall):

sudo pacman -Rns power-profiles-daemon
sudo pacman -S power-profiles-daemon

Then see if it starts:

systemctl start power-profiles-daemon
systemctl status power-profiles-daemon

If OK, enable it again:

systemctl enable power-profiles-daemon

Beyond this, perhaps others might have a thought or two.

Thanks for all the support so far, it has been appreciated!
Unfortunately it is still not starting, just hanging with no output.

I’ll chime in again if anything else comes to mind.
